Mahabharat ki kahani, Ramayan ki kahani, Krishna aur Hanuman ki kahaniyan — ek minute mein.

Why these stories

They were never just stories. They were how we learned to live.

For thousands of years, Bharat taught courage, truth and duty not with rules but with people: a boy who would not stop asking, a friend who arrived with a handful of rice, a prince who chose the hard road. Hear them again and you learn where you come from, and something about who you want to be. Why ancient stories still matter

साहस

Courage

Abhimanyu was sixteen when he walked into the chakravyuh, knowing the way in but not the way out.

The chakravyuh story

सत्य

Truth

Satyakama did not know who his father was, and said so. His teacher accepted him for that honesty alone.

भक्ति

Devotion

Dhruva, five years old, turned away from his father's lap and found a place no one could take: the pole star. Prahlad held on through every fire.

How Dhruva became the pole star

कर्म

Duty

On the field of Kurukshetra, Krishna told Arjuna to do his work well and let go of the fruit. It still holds on a Monday morning.

Gita lessons for daily life

मित्रता

Friendship

Sudama walked to Dwarka with a little beaten rice, too shy to ask for anything. Krishna ran to the gate to meet him.

दृढ़ता

Resolve

Savitri followed Yama himself, step after step, and with patience and wit won back Satyavan's life.

Savitri and Satyavan

जिज्ञासा

Questioning

Nachiketa sat at Yama's door and asked what happens after death. He turned down every treasure until he got an answer.

Nachiketa and Yama

विनम्रता

Humility

Indra sent the storm; young Krishna lifted Govardhan and sheltered a whole village. Even the king of the gods learned to bow.

की नज़र से · Through their eyes

Mahabharat ki kahani, Ramayan ki kahani, told by someone who was there.

Many stories in Divya Katha are told the way a witness would tell them: the war through Sanjaya, who saw it all; the leap to Lanka through Hanuman; death's door through a boy who knocked on it. It is the story you know, from close enough to feel it.

On a moonlit palace terrace, Arjuna tells Subhadra, expecting a child, how to break into the chakravyuh.
Abhimanyu, before he was born, hearing the way into the chakravyuh
Sanjaya stands with folded hands beside the blind old king Dhritarashtra on his golden throne.
Sanjaya, at the blind king's side, about to tell him what he sees
A young woman in a red sari bows her head before a crowned king on his throne in a pillared hall.
Savitri, long before she faces Yama
At sunrise beside a sacrificial fire, a young boy watches his father hand out gifts, old cows standing behind.
Nachiketa, watching his father give everything away

How it works

A Hindi kahani app: a story, a minute, a lesson to keep.

  1. Open a story

Start anywhere: a night of the Kurukshetra war, Hanuman on the shore before the leap, a boy at Yama's door. Every story is in Hindi, from the texts that first told it.

  2. Watch an episode in a minute

Each episode runs about a minute. Swipe up for the next, down for the previous, or let them play on. The app remembers where you left off in every story.

  3. Carry the lesson, share it

Every story holds a lesson in courage, truth, devotion or duty. Talk about it at dinner, or share the episode with the family group in a tap.

The texts behind the stories

From the Mahabharata to the Upanishads: where every story comes from.

Every episode in Divya Katha is drawn from a text Bharat has kept for centuries. Knowing where a story comes from is the first step to understanding it.

महाभारत

The Mahabharata

A family torn apart by a throne, and the war that followed: duty, loyalty and what they cost, seen by Sanjaya, Vidura and Abhimanyu.

भगवद गीता

The Bhagavad Gita

Krishna's answer to Arjuna's doubt at Kurukshetra: do your work well and let go of the fruit.

वाल्मीकि रामायण

The Valmiki Ramayana

Rama, Sita, Lakshman and Hanuman: the first telling of a promise kept at any cost.

रामचरितमानस

The Ramcharitmanas

Tulsidas's Ramayan in Awadhi, the one sung in homes and temples across north India.

भागवत पुराण

The Bhagavata Purana

Krishna's childhood in Vrindavan, Dhruva's resolve and Prahlad's faith: devotion told as stories.

शिव पुराण

The Shiva Purana

Shiva and Parvati, Nandi's devotion to Mahadev, and the great tales of the destroyer and the ascetic.

देवी माहात्म्य

The Devi Mahatmya

The Goddess who rises when the gods cannot win alone: strength, and the courage to face what seems unbeatable.

उपनिषद

The Upanishads

Nachiketa, Satyakama and Maitreyi ask what is real and what lasts, in the Katha, Chandogya and Brihadaranyaka.

For families

Dharmik kahaniyan for kids and families: the stories your दादी-नानी told.

Most of us first heard of Dhruva, Prahlad, Krishna and Hanuman from a grandparent at bedtime. Divya Katha keeps those stories within reach, in Hindi, a minute at a time, ready to pass on.

  • Watch together: one episode is short enough for a child's attention, and long enough to start a conversation.
  • Young and curious about your roots? Start anywhere: the Gita, the Upanishads, a single night of the war.
  • A spare minute on the metro or in a queue is enough for an episode.
  • Before a festival, watch the story behind it: Prahlad before Holi, Govardhan before Govardhan Puja, the Devi before Navratri.

Mythology stories to share with children

Young Dhruva reaches out to his father, the king, whose lap is taken by his half-brother while the queen looks on.
